Persistence: keep bases between restarts
How persistence works, and what actually causes it to wipe.
3 min read
Persistence stores built structures, buried stashes and vehicles in the storage folder of your mission. It is on by default and survives normal restarts.
- A DayZ game update that changes the storage format wipes it. This is the most common cause, and it is not something a host can prevent.
- Adding or removing a mod that touches persistence can invalidate it.
- Editing types.xml badly can break the economy in a way that looks like a wipe.
- Deleting the storage folder, obviously — that is how you wipe deliberately.
